Summer's End

The cool summer's breeze tossed her curled blond hair.
She looked up at a bird and watched it soar through the air.
The leaves on the trees rustled softly in the wind.
Fall would soon be there and the fun filled summer would end.
She dreaded the time when the first yellow leaf fell,
And when her father would harvest the grain for to sell.
Her eyes brightened as her thoughts grew warmer.
Fall would bring winter, winter - spring, and spring - summer.
